About the Role

Are you ready to take your technical skills to new heights? We’re seeking a motivated A&P NVIS Installation Technician to join our growing team. In this dynamic role, you'll be responsible for installing supplemental lighting systems on both rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You’ll not only perform hands-on installations but also manage associated documentation, provide professional customer support both remotely and on-site, and assist with post-installation updates and procedural improvements. This role also supports a variety of Repair Station functions, which may include general aircraft maintenance and administrative or back-office tasks. This is a full-time position with benefits available after a 90-day introductory period. Travel up to 50% is expected, and some assignments may be international, offering a unique opportunity for those who enjoy variety, hands-on problem-solving, and working in diverse environments.

  

Responsibilities:  

  • Assist with install of supplemental lighting and filtration system on customer aircraft or equipment per applicable STC data, and complete accurate expense reports after arriving back from the installs. 
  • Ensure all initial and recurrent training is recorded and maintained in accordance with Repair Station Training Manual. 
  • Develop working knowledge of the current Repair Station Manual and all of its contents, and knowledge of the FAA CFRs. The ability to know and comply with all applicable current FARs, ACs and other FAA guidance. 
  • Complete and submit all applicable installation checklists and documentation. Ensure work order documentation is complete and executed in accordance with the current Repair Station Manual and Repair Station Forms Manual requirements. 
  • Identify and inform Repair Station Manager of any updates needed in pertinent manuals and Modification specifications. Notify ASU personnel of discrepancies/suggestions for ensuring that corrections are made correctly and with proper approvals. 
  • Work with NVIS Installation team to provide technical support and troubleshooting to assist Customers and solve technical problems, issues and discrepancies. Ensure the Quality and Repair Station managers are informed of Customer’s technical problems, issues and discrepancies. 
  • Participate in the creation and updating of new or existing Modification Specifications. 
  • Execute and distribute return to service documents after supplemental lighting and filtration system is installed and approved on customer aircraft.
  • Communicate and coordinate with ASU customers, potential ASU customers, DERs, DARs, FAA, and foreign Civil Aviation Authorities. Act as liaison during the night vision compatible lighting STC modifications. 
  • Ensure tools utilized for STC installations are in compliance with current calibration inspection certifications throughout the duration of STC installations being worked on. 

Requirements

  • Travel: Position requires frequent and extended travel, estimated at 20+ weeks per year, primarily Monday through Friday. Candidates must be willing and able to travel up to 50% annually. 

Education & Certification:

  • Must have a valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate or Avionics Technician qualification (NCATT AET preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and passport required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. This means being a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), or holding a valid work visa. 

Experience & Skills:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft modification, avionics installation, or similar technical aviation work. 
  • Strong avionics and electrical systems experience is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing engineering drawings and producing accurate redlines.
  • Strong Technical writing skills, specifically for procedures, instructions, and documentation.  
  • Excellent communication skills, including: 
    • Cross-functional coordination within the team
    • Professional interaction with customers
    • Clear communication with FAA representatives and other regulators 
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong discipline in following established processes, procedures, and quality standards. 
  • Working knowledge of FAA regulations relevant to aircraft modification, including Part 43, Part 65, and Part 145.
  • Must be capable of interpreting and applying regulatory and instructional materials accurately.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneously, even under high-stress conditions.
  • Must be computer literate with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Windows Explorer for electronic file management.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to safely and comfortably maneuver in and around small aircraft cockpits and sensitive equipment.
  • Requires free range of motion and the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 70 lbs.

Communication:

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Repair Station operations
  • Exposure to Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) and the supporting documentation lifecycle. 
  • Familiarity with DER/DAR coordination or airworthiness inspections.
