About the Role

Description

Cogent Security Consulting LLC seeks an energetic, adaptive, detail-oriented

professional with excellent communication skills to be a member of a small, operational

security analysis team. The successful applicant will support federal staff within the

National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Office of Defense Nuclear Security

(DNS).

Applicant must be creative, learn quickly, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be

able to work in a team environment. The analyst must also:


Junior-level Analyst

  • Review open-source reporting and industry analysis to collect pertinent information.
  • Review message traffic and finished intelligence reports on classified and unclassified systems.
  • Provide written summaries of incidents and current intelligence products tailored to NNSA audiences.
  • Draft work products for team and client review.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, record notes, and produce summaries.
  • Engage directly with clients and interface with senior officials and managers.
  • Provide ad hoc analytic support and information sharing for incident response.
  • Brief analytic findings to internal audiences and working groups.
  • Support the production and dissemination of timely, tailored intelligence reporting to DNS and field-based personnel programs.


Mid-Level Analyst – all the above plus:

  • Liaise with DOD, IC, and other Federal partners through forums and working groups to exchange multi-source intelligence reporting affecting NNSA DNS operations and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and assess internal incident information for threat and trend analysis.
  • Contribute to interagency analytic efforts in support of the Nuclear Security Enterprise (NSE).
  • Working with internal partners, perform analysis of threats to the NSE from foreign intelligence entities, foreign terrorist organizations, homegrown violent extremists, domestic violent extremists, criminal organizations, and cyber threat actors.
  • Generate, evaluate, and edit standard operating procedures.
  • Collect, analyze, and assess NNSA Technical Security Program (TSP) reporting on technical surveillance threats, devices, and techniques.
  • Perform analytical support to identify and assess foreign intelligence entity (FIE) technical surveillance intent and capabilities.

Requirements

Junior Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of Intelligence or All-Source Analysis experience
  • Master’s degree plus 1 years of Intelligence or All-Source Analysis experience


Mid-Level Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of Intelligence or All-Source Analysis experience
  • Master’s degree plus 4 years of Intelligence or All-Source Analysis experience


All Applicants:

  • Possess an active DOE Q or DOD TS clearance, or favorably adjudicated Tier V personnel security background investigation and current SCI eligibility.
  • Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong skills using products including Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: addressing threats from terrorist or domestic violent extremist organizations, foreign intelligence threats, criminal organizations, or social science research.


Position Location: Washington, DC


Salary Range: $100,000-$140,000 (pay commensurate with experience)


Schedule: 8-hour shift, in the office
