Primary Responsibilities
HDR currently has an opening in Philadelphia, PA for a Principal Management Consultant to join our Resources Business Group team. Primary responsibilities for this position are to plan and direct management consulting projects, support or lead multi-disciplinary projects, and participate in large programs. Clients will primarily include Power, Industrial, and Waste clients but will also include other types of clients. Management consulting services may include strategic planning, data management and IT integration, project funding support, and organizational development. The position requires strong interpersonal, presentation, and delivery skills.
The candidate will need to provide a blend of project delivery and management, business development, and leadership. Skills in proposal development, technical resource management, and client relations will allow the candidate to develop leads and pursuits into successful projects. The candidate will work within the matrix to support client management activities. Our clients value trusted advisors with strong listening and strategic skills. The ability to develop solutions by bringing the right teams to our clients is important. The willingness to mentor staff is also important to help us develop the next generation of management consultants.
The candidate will be integrated within a team of management consultants supporting clients across HDR. Clients and other key internal stakeholders could be located anywhere in North America and HDR’s global presence. Strong communication and leadership skills will help the candidate manage projects staffed by remote teams. Our management consultants are integrated directly with subject matter experts throughout the company to deliver projects for our clients. The ability and desire to work across our matrix with talented subject matter experts is a key to our success.

Preferred Qualifications
Engineering Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in addition to MBA preferred.
10+ years of management consulting experience.
Candidate should possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel.
Solid business development skills.
Demonstrated ability to relate well to clients and demonstrated presentation skills.
Some travel required.

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or closely related field
