Description

Make an impact. Join our growing outpatient clinics, focused on improving the wellbeing of families in Orange County. We are seeking a mission driven and dedicated DENTIST to render exemplary patient care in a dental clinic setting. The dentist will provide a range of services to our patients, assessing their oral health, performing cleanings, procedures, educating patients, promoting better oral hygiene and health, and screening patients for risk of HIV exposure.  


This is a temporary 12-week assignment with the possibility of permanent full time for the right candidate.
 

Who We Are. We are a collaborative community practice, with locations in Buena Park, Fullerton, Anaheim, Orange, and the High Desert. We believe that everyone should have access to high quality comprehensive medical care, regardless of their ability to pay. Our health centers use a team-based model of care that includes family medicine, obstetrics, women’s health, oral and vision care, preventative and educational health, mental health, patient advocacy, case management, and community health. Most of our patients live below 200% of the Federal Poverty level and are best served in Spanish. Through our origins with St. Joseph Health, we have provided care to low-income families since the 1980s, maintaining a commitment to serving our most vulnerable neighbors with high-quality, nationally recognized care. Essential Functions: 

  • Responsible for providing general dental professional services for the St. Jude Neighborhood Health Centers.  
  • Insures a high level of patient and family satisfaction with services. 
  • Meets with patients to discuss and treat dental concerns, perform regular cleanings, preventative and restorative procedures. 
  • Screens patients for HIV Risks and HIV.   
  • Applies helpful agents to teeth, such as sealants and fluoride.       
  • Prescribes medications for dental problems, such as antibiotics.
  • Give patients sedatives or anesthesia prior to administering treatments.
  • Ordering diagnostic measures, such as x-rays, models, etc.
  • Uses tools, such as drills, probes, brushes, or mirrors, to examine and treat teeth and mouth.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of care provided, submits charges in a timely manner and reflective of care delivered.  
  • Managing and communicating with other staff members to provide care to patients.
  • Provides professional oversight and training for dental assistants.
  • Participates in dental quality initiatives and chart reviews. 
  • Meets established clinic productivity standards. 
  • Ensures adequate coverage of dental clinics with other clinic dentists.
  • Must be willing to travel between multiple clinics

Compensation

  • This is an exempt position.  Pay Range: $165,000 to $176,000 annually (DOE)

Requirements

Education: 

  • Graduate of U.S.-accredited Dental school

License/ Certifications: 

  • Current California State Dental license and DEA number
  • BLS/ CPR certification
  • Valid Driver License

Experience: 

  • Minimum two years of general dentistry
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, tools, diagnostics and standard practices
  • Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare databases and applications 
  • Ability to comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding dental and health care
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to keep accurate, detailed, and HIPAA compliant dental records. 

Preferred Position Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in Spanish & English - Strongly Preferred
  • Experience in community healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/cultural sensitivity to work with a diverse and underserved populations.
