About The Role:

This position can be located in any of our market areas.  

The SBA Business Development Officer is responsible for developing, originating, and processing SBA, USDA B&I, USDA FSA, and Pass Thru loans. This role focuses on calling on prospective and existing customers to generate new business, providing financial guidance, and managing loan requests from initial screening through funding. The position may involve direct interaction with representatives of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture and supports departmental activities to maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction.

  • Develop and submit SBA, USDA B&I, USDA FSA, and Pass Thru loan requests
  • Call on prospective and existing customers to generate new business opportunities
  • Provide financial counsel to current and prospective customers
  • Interview prospective loan applicants to determine program eligibility
  • Obtain and analyze sufficient applicant information to support sound credit decisions
  • Screen, review, and analyze loan requests
  • Maintain direct control of loan files and documentation from initial credit submission through funding
  • Develop business within the community directly and through referral sources such as attorneys, accountants, real estate brokers, business brokers, and other lead generators
  • Represent the Bank positively in the community and professional associations by participating in community events to support client retention and brand awareness
  • Interface directly with SBA or USDA officers as needed
  • Provide support to the SBA Department, including obtaining financials, conducting site inspections, or assisting with collection activities when requested
  • Travel as required

Qualifications

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance from a four year college or university and three years of related experience

Preferred Prior Experience

  • Prior relationship management experience
  • Knowledge of the business and economic environment
