Responsible for managing all activities and staff in the warehouse, freezer, and transportation departments to ensure effective and efficient operations while maintaining safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Lead department safety and operations meetings. Maintain appropriate staffing levels that are needed to support the warehouse/freezer. Work closely with maintenance department to reduce equipment downtime.
Set clear directives and goals for the team while quickly addressing corrective actions. Communicate effectively daily both written and orally in a professional manner.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain Organic Certifications including supplier’s certification, annual organic review and submittals for Review daily inspection sheets for material handlers and schedule maintenance as needed.
- Collect monthly mileages and hours on OTR trucks and trailers.
- Verify that inbounding/outbound shipments are correctly recorded and address discrepancies.
- Print out load pick sheets for the freezer staff, verify lot information, and complete BOL process.
- Participate in all safety programs as needed for the department, including but not limited to lock out/tag out, machine guarding, chemical handling, SDS for material used in production activities, and safety meetings.
- Report and correct any safety hazards identified to the appropriate Manager.
- Identify and report any quality assurance issues to QA department while working to make improvements and assisting the QA manager.
- Ensure that proper FIFO practices are being utilized through training and daily checks.
- Schedule daily transfers to offsite warehouse prioritizing based on production and customer shipments.
- Complete or assign cycle counts as needed ensuring that inventory levels are accurate.
- Monitor that proper staging of all ingredients/packaging for three days of production as required.
- Ensure that correct tempering procedures are followed while storing or staging ingredients.
- Train staff on policies, procedures, safety topics, and quality assurance issues weekly or as identified.
- Provide accountability with clear and fair disciplinary action as required.
- Daily monitor and ensure that all receiving is completed and submitted to corporate office.
- Maintaining food safety and food quality through ensuring supplier and vendor compliance.
- Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Education + Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 5 years’ experience in environment.
- Computer knowledge and NAV Software experience is essential.
- Organizational and Administrative knowledge.
- Ability to work well with people.
- Communication skills is a must.
