SUMMARY
Oakwood School is seeking an outstanding full time visual arts teacher for our lower school. This position is for the 2026-2027 school year beginning in August 2026.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, supervise, and implement the curriculum as a visual arts education teacher
- Plan lessons that include, but not are limited to: ceramics, drawing, painting, art history
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and ability to provide instruction to encourage creativity, positivity, and self-expression.
- Work in partnership with other teachers, educators, parents, and specialists to develop and deliver curriculum
- Work and communicate effectively with parents in formal and informal conferences, written reports, newsletters, and other school approved channels
- Be a positive and contributing member of the Oakwood community.
- Fulfill campus responsibilities including break supervision, crosswalk duty, or other duties as assigned
- Participate in Admission events, including Open House, New Student Orientation, and applicant interviews
- Attend various staff meetings, Back-to-School Nights, and other events as directed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- A minimum of 2-years of previous experience teaching art at the secondary level or equivalent professional experience relevant to working with students
- Content and pedagogical expertise
Preferred
- A bachelor’s degree in your specific or related field
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with arms and hands, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-30 pounds
- Ability to speak and hear and see near and far
- Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to escort students to different classes, to recess and to field trips, etc
- Ability to perform repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment
- Ability to work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time
- Occasional to frequent interruptions
- Ability to adapt to a variety of different environments with varying levels of noise, temperature, physical space, etc.
COMPENSATION
This position has an expected salary range of $52,000 - $78,000.
