Albemarle Heating & Air was founded in March of 1988 by Tom Kavounas. The business operated from a one bay garage with 5 people and two old trucks. Quite often Tom would be heard saying, “I don’t want to be the biggest, I just want to be the best!” The first year results were encouraging as sales revenue was more than double the projections. It was very evident from the beginning that people really wanted their work done the right way. The company, with its unique customer focus, grew faster than ever anticipated. Word spread from happy clients who were finally comfortable in their homes and buildings. Today, the Albemarle Heating & Air team is comprised of over 80 individuals with some of the best training and experience of any company in the country. The management team members have a combined total of over 100 years of industry experience. The service department maintains several thousand Energy Saving Agreements with the number of units serviced each year in excess of 8,000. Our primary market area is a 30 mile radius of Charlottesville, although we have clients in other parts of Virginia and in North Carolina. Albemarle Heating & Air specializes in service, retail and replacement of residential and commercial installations. Our customers have the benefit of our new construction and light commercial design-build department, staffed by highly skilled engineers. Over the past 5 years, IAQ studies, energy audits, moisture control and building science investigations have been developed as additional core competencies.
