About The Company
Northwest Miss Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC) is a DNV-accredited county hospital with a licensed capacity of 49 beds. Currently, our facilities are staffed to include telemetry unit beds, ambulatory/same-day surgery beds, emergency department beds, operating rooms, and a Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Additionally, our Labor and Delivery suite features 4 Labor/Delivery Rooms (LDR), 3 overnight observation rooms, 4 triage bays, an exam room, an OR/PACU, and an 11-bassinet newborn and intensive care nursery. NWMRMC provides general medical surgical, orthopedics, urology, nephrology, obstetrics, gynecology and newborn services. We own and operate NWMRMC OPT Clinics - Family Medicine, NWMRMC OPT Clinics - Orthopedics, NWMRMC OPT Clinics Surgery, NWMRMC OPT Clinics Urology, NWMRMC Woman's Clinic, NWMRMC Woman's Clinic Cleveland and NWMRMC Diagnostic Imaging Center. Are you detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality? Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (NWMRMC) is seeking a dependable Medical Records Clerk to support our Health Information Management (HIM) department.

In this role, you will play a vital part in protecting the integrity, accuracy, and confidentiality of patient health records while supporting clinical and administrative teams.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately file, retrieve, scan, and maintain patient medical records in accordance with hospital policy.  
  • Ensure records are complete, organized, and compliant with regulatory standards.  
  • Process requests for medical records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.  
  • Verify patient information and documentation for accuracy.  
  • Assist with record audits and chart deficiency tracking.  
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information.  
  • Support providers and departments with timely chart access and documentation needs.  
  • Prepare records for long-term storage or destruction per retention policy.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:

Education:  High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in medical records, health information management, or a healthcare setting preferred.  
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.  

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards  
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills  
  • Basic computer proficiency  
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion  
  • Effective communication skills
