Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the therapist functions as a clinical member of the multidisciplinary team, providing substance use and mental health services to severely and persistently mentally ill clients in an outpatient community setting.



Essential Duties:

  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, updates, and service authorizations thoroughly and within all required licensing and payer standards. Provide ongoing assessment of clients’ mental illness symptoms and clients’ response to treatment
  • Facilitate client-centered psycho-educational and processing groups that support skill-building and therapeutic growth,
  • Provide weekly individual supportive therapy with each client, monitoring progress toward goals and adjusting interventions based on clinical need.
  • Develop and maintain effective therapeutic alliance with clients, including conceptualizing and fostering effective therapeutic processes. 
  • Ensure all clinical services, documentation, and treatment practices align with CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) standards, including maintaining compliance in assessment, treatment planning, person-centered care, and service delivery.
  • Provide appropriate referrals and coordinate transition planning for clients completing treatment or exiting early, including referrals to multidisciplinary teams such as ACT, FACT, and CTOSS to ensure continuity of care and connection to ongoing supports.
  • Participate in daily staff organizational meetings and treatment planning review meetings.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and within required licensing and payer standards.
  • Attends work on a regular and predictable basis. 


Secondary Duties:

  • Maintain good professional relationships with appropriate community partners, referral sources, and other professionals.
  • Maintain all continuing education requirements in order to maintain the therapist's professional level and status.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with and adherence to Utah laws regarding confidentiality and mandatory reporting requirements. 
  • Maintain familiarity with issues and trends in the behavioral health field including comorbid mental health issues, advances in psychopharmacology, theory, and evidence-based practices.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Master’s degree in a mental health discipline and current Utah licensure as a mental health therapist. 
  • Experience writing treatment plans, goals, and objectives, and working with individuals with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders (preferred). 
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria and LOCUS, with the ability to clinically conceptualize client presentations and coordinate appropriate services. 
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, uphold confidentiality, follow agency policies, and work effectively with diverse clients and staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn and use electronic health records and other clinical databases.
  • Willingness to accept supervision, and ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification. 
  • If driving is required: must be 21 or older, hold a valid driver’s license, maintain a good driving record, and be insurable under the agency’s policy. 
  • Ability to pass Utah-DHHS Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug testing.


Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment. May entail using a computer for extended periods of time.
