Ophthalmic Technician
DuPage Ophthalmology is seeking a skilled, patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing practice. This role reports directly to the Practice Administrator and works closely with our physicians to deliver exceptional clinical care and an outstanding patient experience.

Clinical & Patient Care
Perform comprehensive patient evaluations including:
Chief complaint and history of present illness
Review of systems
Accurate documentation of ocular findings in compliance with regulatory standards
Conduct pre-exam testing including:
Visual acuity (pinhole and glare testing)
Confrontational visual fields
Extraocular muscle assessment
Pupillary evaluation
Tonometry
Angle assessment and dilation
Color vision and stereopsis testing
Perform lensometry and manual refractions
Conduct specialized diagnostic testing such as:
Visual field
A-scan
OCT
Ophthalmic photography
Assist physicians with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatments
Provide patient education on medication administration and pre/post-operative instructions
Process prescription refill requests with complete and accurate documentation
Equipment & Clinical Support
Maintain and troubleshoot clinical equipment
Clean and prepare surgical instruments for sterile processing
Open and close exam lanes, ensuring equipment is sanitized, powered down, and properly stored
Follow all OSHA and office safety protocols
Administrative & Team Support
Understand insurance plans, referral processes, and authorization requirements
Maintain strict patient confidentiality
Support front office functions when needed:
Patient check-in and check-out
Triage emergency calls and schedule appropriately
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team
Who We’re Looking For
Patient-centered with a strong commitment to quality care
Team-oriented and adaptable
Self-aware with a strong work ethic
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certification preferred (not required but financially rewarded)
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Willingness to work at both Lombard and Darien locations as needed
Compensation & Benefits
$22.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on Technical Skills Evaluation and qualifications)
