The Volunteer Services Manager leads and grows Unity’s volunteer programs to maximize engagement, impact, and alignment with the organization’s mission. This role develops strategy, oversees daily operations, and collaborates across departments to ensure a meaningful volunteer experience. The Manager plays a key role in building and sustaining a skilled and inspired volunteer workforce that strengthens Unity’s ability to serve patients, families, and communities.


Schedule: Full-time, salaried position working 40–45 hours per week, first shift. Occasional weekend commitments are required, including approximately two weekend volunteer orientations per year, as well as volunteer expos or other events that may be held in the evening or on weekends as needed.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Reimagine and grow the Volunteer Services strategy to enhance engagement and support organizational sustainability and growth

· Research and recommend innovative ideas to improve service delivery and expand volunteer programs aligned with Unity’s mission

· Create, manage, and execute the Volunteer Services budget

· Collaborate with all departments to establish and sustain a volunteer workforce, including identifying new volunteer opportunities

· Lead volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, placement, and retention, matching volunteers’ skills and interests to organizational needs

· Provide ongoing support to staff and volunteers to ensure meaningful engagement, including training and communication

· Develop, implement, and regularly evaluate a comprehensive volunteer recognition program

· Maintain accurate volunteer records and associated processes within the volunteer database

· Establish and maintain evaluation methods to promote continuous improvement and best practices

· Serve as the primary liaison between Volunteer Services and Unity leadership

· Oversee volunteer roles that directly support the volunteer program and leadership structure

Requirements


  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, nonprofit administration, or a related field preferred.   
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in volunteer/project management, preferred. 
  3. Experience in people management, project management, training/supervising groups strongly preferred.
