About the Position
We are looking for a Sewer who is responsible for sewing, assembling, altering, and repairing upholstered furniture covers and other fabric components according to specifications and quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Sewing & Assembly
- Operate industrial sewing machines to sew fabric, vinyl, and leather components for upholstered furniture.
- Join precut fabric pieces using double-needle, single-needle, serger, or other machines as required.
- Match patterns, align seams, and maintain consistency with design specifications.
- Quality & Inspection
- Inspect finished seams for accuracy, strength, and visual appeal.
- Ensure that all pieces meet company quality standards before moving them to the next stage of production.
- Identify and report defective materials or workmanship issues.
- Alterations & Repairs
- Perform alterations or repairs on fabric components as instructed.
- Adjust tension, stitch length, and other machine settings for different materials
- Productivity
- Meet daily production quotas while maintaining high level of craftsmanship.
- Machine Maintenance
- Perform basic maintenance on sewing machines (cleaning, threading, replacing needles).
- Report mechanical issues promptly to immediate supervisor.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a seamstress or industrial sewing machine operator.
- Strong knowledge of fabric types, stitching techniques, and sewing machine operation.
- Ability to read work orders and interpret verbal/written instructions.
- Excellent attention to detail.· Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
