POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the HR department and ensuring a positive employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle. This position partners with leadership and employees to support HR programs including recruitment, compliance, performance management, and HRIS administration. The HR Generalist helps ensure company policies and procedures are applied consistently while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
o Partner with hiring managers to support recruiting efforts including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and candidate communication
o Assist with new hire onboarding processes including offer letters, new hire paperwork, background check coordination, and system onboarding
o Ensure completion of required onboarding documentation including Form I-9 and required compliance documentation
o Maintain onboarding checklists and coordinate orientation activities for new employees
o Support recruitment reporting and hiring metrics as needed
· HRIS Administration & Compliance
o Maintain accurate employee records and documentation in the HRIS system and personnel files in compliance with company policies and legal requirements
o Support HR compliance initiatives including audits of employee files, policy adherence, and required employment documentation
o Monitor and support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
o Assist with preparation and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook updates
o Support HR reporting and analytics including headcount tracking, turnover analysis, and HR metrics reporting
o Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information
· Payroll Administration
o Assist with payroll processing by reviewing and validating employee timekeeping records, pay adjustments, commissions, bonuses, and other compensation changes for accuracy and completeness
o Coordinate with payroll administrators to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing
o Assist employees and managers with payroll-related questions including pay discrepancies, timekeeping corrections, and payroll documentation
o Ensure payroll changes such as new hires, terminations, compensation updates, and deductions are accurately entered into the HRIS/payroll system
o Support payroll audits and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable wage and hour laws
· Workers’ Compensation Administration
o Assist in the administration of workers’ compensation claims including incident documentation, reporting, and coordination with insurance carriers and third-party administrators
o Ensure timely reporting of workplace injuries and completion of required claim documentation
o Communicate with injured employees regarding the claims process, return-to-work expectations, and available resources
o Coordinate modified duty or return-to-work programs when applicable
o Maintain workers’ compensation records and assist with claims tracking, reporting, and auditing
o Support safety and compliance initiatives related to workplace injuries and incident prevention
· Leave of Absence Administration
o Assist with administration of employee leave programs including FMLA, CFRA, ADA accommodations, and other applicable leave laws
o Coordinate required documentation and communication with employees regarding leave requests
o Track leave usage and ensure documentation is maintained accurately within HR systems
· Benefits Administration
o Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and voluntary benefits plans
o Support employee benefits enrollment processes including new hire enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and annual open enrollment
o Respond to employee questions regarding benefits eligibility, coverage, and enrollment
o Coordinate with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators to resolve benefits-related issues
o Ensure accurate processing of benefits elections and changes within the HRIS and benefits systems
· Employee Engagement & HR Programs
o Support employee engagement initiatives including recognition programs, internal communications, and company events
o Assist with employee recognition programs and internal HR initiatives designed to improve employee experience
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Required Qualifications
o Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent professional HR experience
o Minimum 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a Generalist, Business Partner, or HR support role
o Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
o Experience handling confidential employee information with discretion and professionalism
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust with employees at all levels of the organization
o Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and basic office software and equipment
· Preferred Qualifications
o Experience working in a multi-state employment environment
o Experience with HRIS systems (such as Paylocity or similar HR platforms)
o Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) preferred
o Bilingual Spanish skills preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
· Ability to interpret and apply company policies and employment laws consistently and accurately
· Ability to communicate effectively with employees, sales representatives, vendors, supervisors, and leadership
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Proficiency with HR systems, data management, and reporting tools
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
COMPENSATION:
· This position is a salary, exempt position. The starting annual salary rate of this position is expected to be between $70,000 and $75,000 per year. Exact starting salary will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to work location, experience, education, certifications, and internal equity.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
· Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while operating a computer and telephone
· Ability to move about the office to access files, supplies, and equipment
· Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
· Ability to bend, reach, and perform light cleaning duties in assigned areas
· Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and visitor identification
· Auditory ability to hear and respond to phone calls and verbal communications.
