Description
The Miami Children’s Museum is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to support the daily financial operations of the organization. This role works closely with the CFO and Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective accounts management, and strong financial processes that support the museum’s mission and programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain daily sales reports
- Process accounts payable invoices and prepare check runs
- Monitor and maintain accounts payable aging reports
- Prepare positive pay files for payable disbursements
- Track school receivables and communicate with parents regarding outstanding balances
- Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable and deferred revenue schedules
- Assist with weekly revenue uploads and reconciliations
- Prepare expense accruals for month-end close
- Prepare admissions and gift shop banks for operations
- Update eight-week cash forecasts
- Perform credit card reconciliations and related journal entries
- Track and reconcile petty cash
- Assist with grant reporting and reconciliations alongside the grant writer
- Support the CFO and external auditors with documentation for financial statement audits, single audits, and IRS Form 990
- Prepare admissions forecasts for budgeting
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience
- Experience with general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, journal entries, revenue recognition and financial reporting
- Knowledge of accrual accounting and US GAAP
- Experience with enterprise accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Financial Edge, etc.)
- Financial Edge experience is a plus
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teams across the organization
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred but not required
