Job Role / Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

  • providing technical and strategic leadership for enterprise applications, ERP systems, and administrative software across AKU’s South Asia and East Africa regions.
  • leading a team of developers and support staff in managing back-office software modules and services with 24/7 availability.
  • collaborating with academic, research, and administrative stakeholders to define business needs and deliver scalable ICT solutions.
  • driving innovation by researching and implementing new technologies that align with institutional goals and digital transformation.
  • managing the full lifecycle of enterprise software development, including feasibility studies, budgeting, deployment, and post-implementation support.
  • coordinating disaster recovery efforts for mission-critical software systems and ensuring organizational preparedness.
  • overseeing application deployment standards, source code management, server integrity, and version control.
  • acting as a change agent for process improvement and aligning software enhancements with business efficiency.
  • serving as a liaison between business users and technical teams to ensure alignment of solutions with operational goals.
  • developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors, consultants, and cross-functional departments for seamless service delivery.
  • managing software training needs and organizing capacity-building initiatives for both internal teams and end-users.
  • participating in budgeting, strategic planning, and resource allocation within the department.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; MBA in MIS is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise-level software and administrative systems, with at least 5 years in team/project leadership.
  • strong expertise in ERP systems, project management, software development lifecycle, business process automation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • hands-on experience in disaster recovery coordination and enterprise application architecture.
  • proven ability to lead high-performing technical teams and deliver innovative, business-aligned solutions.
  • excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • demonstrated success in cross-functional team leadership, business analysis, and application support across multiple regions.
