Job Description
LDC is seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our dynamic Global Data Science team at LDC. In this critical role, you will leverage your expertise in Python programming, ETL processes, and cloud-based DevOps to enhance our data infrastructure and software development practices used for data analysis. Your contributions will be key in supporting our data science activities, and overall, our data-driven decision-making processes. Your work will be instrumental in empowering our trading platforms with robust data solutions. You will collaborate with experienced data scientists, researchers, and traders, gaining exposure to real-world trading strategies and agricultural analytics.
Main responsibilities:
Support continuous improvement and programmatical best practice of supply modelling of agricultural commodities.
Work with and manage weather data.
Help implement and test Python scripts for data automation and analysis, focusing on reliability and scalability.
Participate in code reviews, data quality checks, and troubleshoot.
Collaborate closely with business teams (traders, analysts, agronomists) to understand their needs and translate them into robust analytical and modelling solutions.
Communicate findings and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences, providing context and business implications.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related STEM field.
Experience in data engineering, data science, or software development.
Proficiency in Python & SQL and familiarity with software development best practices.
- Advanced English.
Additional Information
Experience in developing predictive models is a plus.
Willingness to learn geospatial cloud and services (GEE experience is a plus).
