About the Role

Description

We're seeking an experienced, dynamic Sr. Fund Development Manager to lead the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of prospective and returning donors in the Upstate and surrounding areas. This role drives meaningful relationships across the communities—advancing individual giving, donor upgrades, retention efforts, and signature programs to include Alumnae engagement. The ideal candidate brings strategic focus and measurable goal-setting skills to implement effective development techniques, assist as team member in coordinating and attending recognition and engagement events, and achieve annual financial objectives through thoughtful, relationship-centered fundraising.


This key position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and is based at our Greenville Office with hybrid in-office hours (upon completion of 90-Day Development Plan), serving Upstate and surrounding areas. It requires flexibility to include event functions scheduled in the evenings and/or weekends as well as travel to include Council meetings and other team gatherings.

  • Developing and managing a portfolio achieving benchmark targets and closures, exceeding the minimum annual goal as outlined in the Fund Development plan.  
  • Research and cultivate relationships with prospective donors, sponsors, and partners, leveraging the Bloomerang database and adding new prospects as identified.
  • Facilitates discovery outreach activities to develop and steward a qualified prospect pool; engages, cultivates, and solicits prospects through multiple channels (networking, calls, referrals, and other methods); ensures timely, professional, and consistent follow-up throughout the cultivation process.
  • Conducts follow-up with donors to clarify gift intentions and gather required information for accurate processing and recognition, using both phone and email communication.
  • Contributes to the planning, management, and implementation of fundraising campaigns and events, advancing cultivation efforts and maximizing donor contributions.
  • Participates in budget planning related to fundraising initiatives and campaign activities.
  • Assists with grant writing and sponsorship requests by gathering information, coordinating with team members, and supporting strategic fundraising planning.
  • Demonstrates strong written communication skills, producing clear, professional correspondence and related materials.

  • Four-year degree in business, communications, public relations, marketing or closely related field preferred or HS Diploma or GED and minimum 6 years relevant fund development experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of directly related fund development experience with demonstrated results.
  • Directly related certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership with positive, engaging professional communication and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, communicate, and build rapport with diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, internet tools, and research applications.
  • Experience with CRM systems; Bloomerang preferred; comparable CRM database experience required with proven accuracy and efficiency in data entry.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to be diplomatic, persuasive, and build support and commitment across stakeholders.
  • Strong listening and interpretive skills to accurately identify, assess, and respond to customer needs.
  • High level of integrity with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including some evenings and weekends, and to travel as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and effective time-management skills, with the capacity to maintain steady performance while meeting daily workflows and deadlines.
  • Active membership in the Girl Scout organization is required and may be obtained upon hire, upholding the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Must have reliable transportation, possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license, maintain personal auto insurance meeting the council insurance company’s requirement for coverage, and submit to a background check.
