The Medical Science Advisor (MSA) is a key member of the medical affairs team, reporting to the Head of Medical Affairs, supporting broader medical affairs goals and initiatives. The Medical Science Advisor (MSA) serves as a bridge between field-based medical activities and internal strategic department initiatives. This hybrid position leverages in-depth scientific knowledge to help implement and execute medical affairs projects while maintaining engagement with key external stakeholders.
This position is a home-based, remote position in the Western U.S. and will have significant expectations for travel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Initiatives and Insight Generation:
- Partner with VP, Medical Affairs to support and execute Medical Affairs Plan and assigned Strategic Initiatives (i.e., clinical trial support, advisory boards, training programs, publication development).
- Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., clinical, regulatory, commercial) to align medical activities with corporate goals.
- Represent medical affairs at internal and external (i.e., partner) meetings, ensuring alignment and consistency in messaging.
- Attend scientific conferences as requested to better understand therapeutic landscape and research needs of scientific community.
- Identify trends and gather insights from the field to inform and refine medical strategies.
KOL Engagement:
- Build and sustain scientific relationships with KOLs, healthcare providers, and institutions
- Conduct scientific exchange to communicate the science and clinical application of company products.
Field-Based Education and Awareness:
- Respond to educational requests from commercial field colleagues in assigned territory or on a national basis in limited situations where requests are best suited to individual expertise. MSAs are responsible for the delivery of accurate and compliant information to HCPs.
- Develop and implement educational activities for HCPs inclusive of allied health professionals and support staff.
- Contribute to the development and execution of product-focused strategies, including medical communication materials and field tools.
- Ensure timely and compliant reporting of field activities and outcomes.
Business Development Support:
- Provide medical and scientific input to assess partnerships, licensing opportunities, and potential acquisitions aligned with individual expertise, as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced Medical or Health Science degree from an accredited college or university (i.e., MD, PharmD, NP or PhD)
- 7+ years experience/proven track record in a medical scientific role or equivalent.
- Excellent skills with MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
- Superior presentation and communication skills
