Description
The Foundation Director of Canopy Village Foundation, formerly Children's Village Foundation, will lead all development, donor relations, and financial strategy efforts that power the mission of Canopy Village Inc, to providing crisis respite, emergency shelter, residential treatment, and family support services for youth and families in our region.
While this position is dedicated to the Canopy Village Foundation, the Foundation Director will work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Canopy Village to ensure both organizations are strategically aligned, operationally efficient, and advancing the shared mission.
The Foundation Director will oversee the Foundation’s day-to-day operations, major fundraising initiatives, financial oversight, foundation staff and Board engagement while actively participating in cross-agency leadership to maximize impact and sustainability. The Foundation Director reports directly to the Canopy Village Foundation Board of Directors.
Requirements
Organizational Leadership
• Provide strategic leadership for the Foundation, ensuring alignment with the overall mission and priorities of Canopy Village.
• Represent the Foundation to donors, sponsors, partners, and the community as the primary fundraising leader.
• Provide supervision and management of CVF employees. Maintain Human Resources records for CVF employees to include; evaluations, disciplinary coaching and promotional documentation.
Development & Fundraising Leadership
• Design and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, corporate sponsorships, capital campaigns and special events. Strategy and oversight of social media and marketing.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations and corporate sponsors.
• Lead all fundraising events and donor engagement activities, ensuring they meet or exceed revenue goals.
• Oversee grant research, writing, submission and reporting to ensure compliance and maximize funding opportunities.
• Partner with the Canopy Village Inc, Executive Director to align funding with programmatic priorities and capacity needs.
• Oversee grant writing and reporting.
Fiscal Management & Compliance
• Oversee all Foundation financial operations in partnership with an external CPA firm, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and monthly reconciliations.
• Ensure maintenance of accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks
• Ensure monthly and annual financial reports are produced for the Board; present financial data in a clear, actionable format.
• Develop and manage the Foundation’s annual budget, ensuring funds are allocated to best support Canopy Village’s mission
• Ensure compliance with applicable nonprofit laws, regulations, and financial policies.
Board & Governance Support
• Serve as the primary liaison to the Canopy Village Foundation Board of Directors, preparing agendas, financial and development reports and strategic recommendations.
• Provide timely and accurate information to support Board decision-making.
• Support Board recruitment, orientation, and ongoing engagement in fundraising activities.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration or related field. (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5+ years senior leadership experience, preferably in development, fundraising, or nonprofit financial management.
• Proven track record of securing major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and grant funding.
• Strong financial management skills, including some experience in Quickbooks and working with external CPA firms. Some experience with CRM management.
• Experience leading change and working in matrix management structures.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors, high-level donors and community stakeholders.
