The role

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide hands-on engineering support to daily operations, driving improvements across Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) while identifying constraints, eliminating waste, and implementing sustainable solutions.

You will collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, IT, and equipment vendors to ensure manufacturing processes are reliable, capable, and consistently meet performance and customer expectations. Your work will directly impact throughput, safety, quality, and long-term process stability.

  

What you will do

· Support and optimize manufacturing processes on the shop floor

· Identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve process flow and efficiency

· Lead projects to design, install, validate, and optimize manufacturing equipment and processes

· Apply root cause analysis and data-driven problem solving to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence

· Develop and maintain process documentation and support new production processes

· Ensure compliance with all safety and quality requirements

· Actively reinforce Western’s culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Requirements

What we are looking for

· 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering

· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and materials

· Proven ability to manage projects and implement process improvements

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

· Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, automation, or capital projects is a plus

· Experience in woodworking, millwork, or custom manufacturing environments is helpful


Work environment

This role operates primarily in a manufacturing environment and requires frequent collaboration with production teams, equipment vendors, and cross-functional partners. Occasional extended hours or off-shift support may be required during equipment installations or major process changes.
