SUMMARY

Installs, configures, repairs, supports, reports, assists and troubleshoots any WorldNet Telecommunications Inc., internal or external infrastructure, including any telecommunication and cable circuits, including customer premises equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Responsible of visiting customers for installation and repairs of internal and external wiring CAT 3, CAT5e or CAT 6, including modular connector, cable, telephone and all WorldNet approved CPE’s. 
  • Responsible for the installation, repairs, configuration and/or replacement of all WorldNet CPE’s. 
  • Responsible for the installation and repairs of voice services such as, POTS lines, Hosted PBX, Sip Lines, PRI, Sip Trunk, DID, etc.   
  • Install and Repair cyber security appliances including troubleshooting, firewalls changes, security policies changes, upgrades, and other related configurations. 
  • Responsible for the physical Installation of CPE’s to provide different types and levels of service on customer premises including switches, routers, batteries, IP phones, ATA, IAD, etc. 
  • Install and repair internet and data services, such as PPPoE, internet dedicated circuits, point to point services, interconnect services thru a data network, etc. 
  • Install and repairs circuits such as T1, Fiber Optic, Wireless or lines to be installed from demarcation point to customer premises.
  • Perform testing on core equipment for DS1 & DS3 circuits issues, including cross connect, extended testing and troubleshooting with third party providers.
  • Process LNP (port in of lines).
  • Complete site surveys, lines inventory and use, wiring, routers, circuits, evaluate the communication room, location facilities, server rooms and telecommunication chambers, etc. 
  • Comply with Installations and Repairs Process and Standards, including the Customer sign off for Job acceptance form, photos of installed equipment, labelling WNT equipment, testing process, etc. 
  • Will assist and perform tests with WNET Repairs Divisions, ISP (Providers) or Engineering to test WNET’s network from Collocation, Cageless, In-buildings or client premises.
  • Troubleshooting of HPBX services at the switch level.   Perform changes as necessary to soft switch, Commportal and CPE.
  • Perform advance troubleshooting of VoIP issues affecting customer services.  Utilize tools such as Wireshark, Hammer, SAS, etc. to identify/solve and solve service issues. 
  • Basic troubleshooting of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.
  • Identify customer repeated service issues, investigate root cause, provide possible solutions and refer to Supervisor for an alternate solution.
  • Compliance with ONCALL policy established by the company and assigned by the supervisor.

  • Performs all other duties as required.

EDUCATION 

Associated Degree in Telecommunications, Telephony or Electronic Technology (preferred) with a minimum of two years of related experience; or equivalent experience and training related to the position.

            

SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS 
  • Ability in the installation, diagnosis and repairs of problems in the operation of all types of telephony services, Internet, data, voip, firewall, etc.
  • Knowledgeable networking Fundamentals (TCP/IP, switching, routing, tools etc.)
  • Skilled in working with Structured Cabling and certifications
  • Capable of working on PBX Installations, Configuration, Troubleshooting and Maintenance. 
  • Ability to work with Transport technologies, testing Equipment’s (DACS, SunSet, etc.) and functioning of tools used in networking
  • MTCNA Certifications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the customers.
