San Diego Mission Bay Resort is a sprawling 357-room resort, boasting multiple dining options, a beautiful renovated pool, a kids pool, astonishing Bay views, fire pits and so much more. We are excited to welcome a new Banquet Captain to our Mission Bay Family. Our resort has over 45,000 square feet of newly renovated, flexible meeting space, with a superb bay-front location for our catering business.
We are seeking an experienced and service-driven Banquet Captain to lead banquet service operations and ensure exceptional guest experiences during events. The Banquet Captain will supervise banquet staff, coordinate event setup and service, and work closely with the culinary and event teams to deliver seamless and memorable events.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise banquet servers, bartenders and support staff during events, ensuring service standards are met.
- Coordinate event setup, including room layout, décor, table settings, and equipment according to banquet event orders (BEOs).
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with banquet staff to review event details and assignments.
- Ensure timely and professional food and beverage service for all events.
- Maintain communication with the Banquet Manager, kitchen team, and event coordinators throughout events.
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance to ensure excellent guest service.
- Assist with training new banquet team members on service standards and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Address guest requests or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Oversee event Set up
- Oversee event breakdown and ensure banquet areas are cleaned and reset for future functions.
You:
To be successful in this position, we’re looking for an amazing people connector, who thrives on creating unique experiences for our guest who are looking for a genuine San Diego experience.
- Minimum 2–3 years of banquet or food & beverage supervisory experience, preferably in a hotel or resort setting.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English in order to review banquet event orders (BEOs), communicate with team members, and assist guests.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of banquet service styles (plated, buffet, reception, etc.).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Food safety certification and alcohol service certification preferred.
