L’Arche Edmonton is looking to welcome a Community Life Coordinator.
Position Summary
The Community Life Coordinator role (CLC) is responsible for nurturing the spiritual and social life of the L’Arche Edmonton community and fostering meaningful connections with like-minded organizations and individuals. This position is deeply rooted in the mission of building inclusive community life that reflects the core values of L’Arche.
The primary focus of the CLC is to support and enhance the spiritual and social well-being of the L’Arche Edmonton community. The CLC works collaboratively with the Spiritual Life Committee to realize this vision.
In addition to internal community development, the CLC is responsible for cultivating relationships with external organizations and individuals in the disability sector, faith-based communities, and local neighborhoods. These partnerships aim to create opportunities for shared learning, collaboration, and outreach, further strengthening L’Arche Edmonton’s role in the broader community.
The CLC ensures all responsibilities align with the Identity and Mission of L’Arche and comply with accreditation standards and government regulations. The CLC is accountable to the Community Leader.
Responsibilities
Nurture the Spiritual life of L’Arche Edmonton:
- Design and implement activities and programs that foster spiritual growth, social connection, and mutual support among members.
- Chair the spiritual life committee and collaborate with individuals and committees to develop and implement regular community spiritual life activities within L’Arche Edmonton.
- Actively participate in the regional Spiritual Life Committee to represent and integrate L’Arche Edmonton’s spiritual life initiatives.
- Support individual members in their spiritual development by creating opportunities for mentorship, personal reflection, and shared faith practices.
- Identify and establish partnerships with organizations and individuals in the disability sector, faith communities, and local neighborhoods.
- Act as the solidarity representative for L’Arche Edmonton, ensuring that the community is informed of, contributing to, and engaged with the program.
- Facilitate community life related training, in collaboration with the Policy and Accreditation Coordinator.
Community Connections and social engagement:
- Organize and lead community-wide social events, including seasonal celebrations, cultural activities, and recreational gatherings.
- Establish and coordinate community events committees.
- Chair the Community Summer Holidays committee. Coordinate the annual Community Summer Holidays, ensuring it fosters inclusion, joy, and rest for all participants.
- Explore and create opportunities for L’Arche Edmonton to build relationships within the wider Edmonton community that lead to shared activities or events.
- Coordinate the itinerary of visitors who come to the community - Serve as a liaison to connect visitors with appropriate members or programs during their time with L’Arche Edmonton.
- Collaborate with the Community Leader to plan and facilitate General Body meetings and other key community-wide meetings.
- Develop tools and processes for gathering feedback from community members to ensure programs are relevant and meaningful.
- Establish clear systems for event planning, communication, and documentation, enabling continuity and accessibility for all members.

- A person of faith with a strong commitment to spiritual growth and supporting others in their spiritual journey.
- Strong commitment to the Identity and Mission of L’Arche.
- Warm, personable, and passionate about working with adults with developmental disabilities.
- Collaborative, inclusive, and able to inspire teamwork and collective participation.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple responsibilities with efficiency.
- Proficient with MS Office 365.
- Professional, with strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with volunteers, partners, and external stakeholders.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to diversity e.g. cultural, spiritual etc.
- Acceptable police check including vulnerable sector check
- A valid driver's license and has own vehicle for work related trips.
Position Details
This is a half-time position (20 hours a week). Hours of work can be flexible, with the expectation of availability for key community events and programs.
