Description
We are currently seeking a Diet Clerk to join our team in a 24-hour position with every other weekend rotation.
Schedule
- 24 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Hours vary based on operational needs and may fall between 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Position Summary
The Diet Clerk supports the Dietary Department by assisting with meal service coordination, diet order management, menu updates, and communication between nursing, dietary staff, and residents. This role helps ensure that residents receive meals that meet their dietary needs and preferences while maintaining high standards of food service operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update resident diet lists and meal service records
- Communicate diet changes and special requests with dietary and nursing staff
- Assist with menu planning and meal service coordination
- Ensure compliance with therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions
- Support food service operations and assist with meal preparation as needed
- Provide excellent customer service to residents, families, and staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and departmental records, in accordance with State, Federal, and VA rules and regulations

Requirements
- Graduate of at least a two-year accredited Diet Technician Program with internship or equivalent
- State of Maine Dietary Technician Certification required
- Prior long-term care, healthcare, geriatric, and/or hospital experience preferred
- Cooking experience preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and dietary teams
