Description
We are seeking highly motivated pre-medical and pre-PA students taking a gap year to serve as Medical Assistants in a dynamic Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and academic teaching site. This role offers exceptional direct patient care, physician mentorship, and broad exposure to both primary care and specialty medicine.
What You’ll Do
Direct Patient Care
- Obtain and document vital signs, chief complaints, and focused histories.
- Prepare patients for exams and assist with minor procedures.
- Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and EKGs.
Clinical Operations
- Document encounters in the EHR.
- Support patient flow and maintain exam rooms and equipment.
Specialty Exposure
Opportunities to support care in:
Primary Care, OB/GYN, Dermatology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, and Sports Medicine.
Learning Environment
- Work alongside physicians affiliated with Boston-area medical schools.

Requirements
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress before start date).
- Strong interest in medicine or PA training.
- Excellent communication skills and commitment to patient care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical setting.
- Minimum 6 months of related experience.
Preferred
- Prior clinical or patient-facing experience (EMT, scribe, CNA, MA, volunteer).
- MA certification or willingness to obtain.
- Bilingual skills.
