Mortgage Cashiering Specialist I JOB SUMMARY:

The Mortgage Cashiering Specialist I is responsible for processing mortgage loan payments in accordance with investor-prescribed posting priorities and Gateway Mortgage policies. This role also includes receiving and posting mortgage loan payoffs and enrolling customers in recurring draft payments.

Mortgage Cashiering Specialist I ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):

* Processes all mortgage payments and/or refunds including payoffs received via mail, incoming wire or electronically on the date of receipt.

* Processes adjustments, corrections, and returned payments as applicable.

* Review and process payments as required on the payment auto reject report.

* Utilizes internal scripting via Excel, to process payments and reporting.

* Reviews and applies fee assessments and waivers as applicable.

* Documents daily transactions, scans daily deposits and payment research, as needed.

* Enroll, process, and review auto draft payment requests received via mail or email.

* Review and approve recurring draft letters sent via Gateway's print vendor.

* Review, respond, or take action as applicable on required reports.

* Supports special payment processing needs as directed by the department.

* Manage and respond to inquiries and escalations sent to the Payment Processing email.

* Exercises awareness with regard to possible suspicious activity, money laundering or fraudulent behavior and reports any such incidents to the BSA department. Performs all job functions in compliance with all company policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations as applicable to the position, including, but not limited to BSA/AML, OFAC and GLBA/privacy rules.

* Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Mortgage Cashiering Specialist I REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
* Basic knowledge with mortgage payment application.
* Basic knowledge on mortgage process.
* Strong math and data entry skills.
* Basic accounting skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Proficient in MS Office applications.
* Ability to process high volumes of transactions accurately.
* Ability to multitask and prioritize.

Equivalent Education/Experience
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* 0-2 years of general bookkeeping, general accounting, mortgage servicing, banking experience.

 

Mortgage Cashiering Specialist I SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS:

Work requires no lifting of more than 15 pounds, typing and computer work, i.e., sedentary, little to no external customer interaction, some vendor management.
