About the Role:

The Host/To Go position plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and efficient dining experience for guests in the food service industry. This role is responsible for managing guest interactions from the moment they arrive, ensuring smooth seating arrangements, and facilitating takeout orders with accuracy and professionalism. The Host/To Go associate acts as the first point of contact, setting the tone for customer satisfaction and operational flow. They coordinate closely with kitchen and service staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders and pick up to-go orders. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall guest experience by maintaining organization, communication, and a friendly atmosphere.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills to operate reservation and point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant or food service environment.
  • Familiarity with reservation management software and POS systems.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and organizational skills.
  • Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish, to assist a diverse customer base.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome guests promptly and courteously upon arrival or when they call for takeout orders.
  • Manage the seating chart and waitlist to optimize table turnover and guest satisfaction.
  • Take and process to-go orders accurately, ensuring all customer requests and special instructions are communicated to the kitchen.
  • Coordinate with servers, kitchen staff, and delivery personnel to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host station and takeout area, including menus and order supplies.
  • Answer phone calls professionally, providing information about menu items, wait times, and restaurant policies.
  • Assist with handling guest inquiries, concerns, or complaints in a calm and effective manner.
  • Support other front-of-house staff during busy periods to maintain smooth operations.
