UPMC Somerset is seeking a Diagnostic Technologist to join their team of life-changers! This position will work varying shifts including some evenings and weekends. As a Diagnostic Technologist, you'll perform imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities:
- Identify patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol for procedures.
- Review patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols.
- Document patient history in electronic records as needed.
- Administer PO and rectal contrast per physician orders and department policy.
- Ensure exams are coded, tracked, networked to ISITE, and charges entered.
- Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently using established protocols.
- Use complex imaging equipment for data acquisition, analysis, and documentation.
- Interact with patients and co-workers with care, respect, and teamwork.
- Perform technical procedures with independent judgment and appropriate radiation use.
- Communicate instructions clearly to patients, explaining procedures to ease their fears.
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or verification from ARRT approved school of completion of program and scheduled graduation date.
- Technologists hired before graduation will have indirect supervision by an ARRT certified diagnostic technologist until the degree is verified.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- ARRT Registry eligible as a Radiologic Technologist. Must obtain radiography registry within 6 months of hire date
- ARRT Certificate
- ARRT Radiography
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
