Surgical Coordinator / Surgery Scheduler (Full Time)
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Day Shift
Girgis ENT is a busy, growing ENT specialty practice seeking an experienced Surgical Coordinator / Surgery Scheduler to manage the surgical scheduling process from start to finish. This role is responsible for coordinating surgical cases, obtaining insurance authorizations, organizing pre-operative requirements, and guiding patients through the surgery process.
The ideal candidate has previous surgical scheduling experience in a medical office or hospital setting, strong attention to detail, and excellent patient communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate surgical scheduling for ENT procedures with hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers
- Manage the entire surgical workflow from physician order to surgery date
- Obtain insurance prior authorizations and referrals as required
- Verify patient insurance benefits related to surgical procedures
- Coordinate pre-operative testing and medical clearances
- Communicate surgery dates, preparation instructions, and expectations to patients
- Review patient financial responsibility and collect surgical pre-payments
- Ensure all surgical documentation is complete and submitted to the facility
- Work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and surgery facilities to ensure cases run smoothly
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years medical office experience
- Surgical scheduling experience strongly preferred
- Experience obtaining insurance authorizations and verifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and patient service skills
- Ability to manage multiple surgical cases simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced specialty practice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ENT or other surgical specialty practice
- Experience using Modernizing Medicine EMA
- Knowledge of surgical facility workflows and insurance authorization processes
