About the Role

Description

Position Purpose:       

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accounting records of the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma and the wholly owned Peoria Ridge Golf Course in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and program guidelines. This position works closely with the Comptroller, Director of Finance, Accounting Assistant, the Program Directors, various banking institutions, state and federal agencies, and others.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a computerized financial accounting system in Sage Intacct.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for various accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • Prepare or assist in preparation of grant budgets; measure actual performance against prepared budgets; modify or assist in modification of budgets when necessary.
  • Prepare and submit required quarterly and annual financial reports to government agencies.
  • Maintain organized files of financial and other related data for programs.
  • Submit quarterly financial statements on individual programs to, and review with, the appropriate program director.
  • Compile financial reports, trial balances, schedules, and other documents for the annual audit.
  • Processing Accounts Payable.
  • Remote Deposit Capture.
  • Credit card reconciliation.
  • Generate and track Accounts Receivable invoices.
  • Assist in inventory control.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting preferred.
  • At least one year of previous accounting experience required. Experience may be substituted for education.
  • Experience with fund accounting, governmental or non-profit, preferred.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting system preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills are required.
  • Knowledge of GAAP.
  • Proficiency with Excel.

Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License and Insurance.

Work Requirements:

Position involves prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, or bending, lifting, or carrying up to 30 pounds daily. Work is generally performed in an office environment with varying levels of lighting, air quality, noise, and/or temperature.
