What You’ll Do:

  • Welcome patients and visitors in person and on the telephone, answering inquiries or referring to other staff.
  • Obtain initial prescription from referring physician’s office for patient’s treatment, updates patient’s EMR chart with prescription and expiration date.
  • Obtain initial authorization from insurance provider for patient’s treatment, updates patient’s EMR chart with authorization form and expiration date.
  • Schedule appointments for new and existing patients in the electronic medical records system (EMR), ensures all patient paperwork and insurance information in patient’s chart is up to date, providing new paperwork for completion when needed.
  • Coordinate communication with APT staff, referring physicians, and therapists to ensure needs of patients and families are met.
  • Assist patients checking in for appointments using the kiosk when necessary.
  • Collect co-pays for current visit or balances from prior visits.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in a medical office setting.
  • The demeanor and compassion to work with pediatric patients with special needs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior electronic medical records (EMR) experience helpful.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to sit at a desk working on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
