Position Summary
The Kennel Attendant (sometimes listed as Kennel Technician) is responsible for providing daily care and support for hospitalized and boarding animals, ensuring their environment is clean, safe, and comfortable while assisting hospital staff as needed in a fast-paced veterinary setting. This role is a key support position in maintaining hospital operations and animal well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Feed, walk, and monitor animals, observing for general health and behavior changes.
Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, cat condos, and animal areas to maintain a safe, sanitary hospital environment.
Assist veterinary staff as needed, which may include helping with animal restraint, bathing, cleaning, or transporting patients within the hospital.
Perform manual labor and heavy cleaning tasks, including disposing of waste and maintaining laundry or overall facility cleanliness.
Maintain consistent schedules, including every-other-weekend and holiday shifts, and weekday duties .
Supervise group or individual play sessions.
Maintain accurate feeding, medication, and behavior records
Greet customers and assist with check-in and check-out as needed
Follow all safety and sanitation protocols
Monitor dogs for signs of illness, stress, or injury and report concerns to management
Administer medications as directed (if trained)
Requirements
Dependable, hardworking, and passionate about animal care in a team environment.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and cleaning.
Comfortable working with a variety of animals (dogs, cats, etc.) of different sizes and temperaments.
Previous experience with animals or in a veterinary/boarding environment is often preferred but not always required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
