UGL Regional Linx was established in 2021, after parent company, UGL Limited was selected to deliver operations and maintenance of rail infrastructure for the Country Regional Network (CRN). This network ensures the safe movement of people and goods throughout the regions of NSW, and links Sydney with many important regional centres. UGL Regional Linx commenced operations on January 30 2022 and works on behalf of the client, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) and will be responsible for managing an important network of assets. As part of its operation, UGL Regional Linx’s scope of work includes: • Network operations • Rail infrastructure maintenance and implementation of a new train control system - UGL’s proprietary system, Sigview. • Asset and property management, and • Safety, access, performance, and environmental management. UGL Regional Linx has made a strong commitment to local and indigenous employment, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to regional NSW. As part of its operations, UGL Regional Linx established its head office and Network Control Centre in the heart of the Central West, Orange, NSW. The CRN network includes: • 2,386 route kilometres of operational passenger and freight rail lines, including 996 km of branch line track used predominantly for haulage of grain, with lower mass and speed limits than other parts of the network • 3,139 route kilometres of non-operational lines • 27,000 hectares of land and infrastructure • 1,312 level crossings (300 active) • 1,200 property assets (including 356 heritage sites) • 600 rail under bridges and 384 road overbridges The CRN is a crucial piece of infrastructure to regional NSW and UGL Regional Linx is committed to ensure that it delivers for all customers, from rail passengers to farmers and industry.
About the Role

Supervisor – Rail/Civil

We are currently seeking to fill two highly skilled, safety‑focused Rail/Civil Supervisor positions to support a major underground project at Olympic Dam in South Australia. The project will encompass a broad range of disciplines such as civil, rail, mechanical and fabrication and will aim to provide a safe, reliable and efficient Projects program.

This position will work closely with the Project Manager, your Leading Hands and work crews to ensure the work crew is set up to succeed, where schedule is considered, and work is performed in a safe and reliable manner. 

To be considered for a role the following skills and experience would be preferred:

·       Coordinate and schedule daily rail or civil works, ensuring alignment with the mine plan and production targets.

·       Liaise with mine operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to plan underground civil and rail infrastructure works (e.g. track installation, roadways, drainage, shotcrete, and concrete works).

·       Supervise and lead crews performing underground rail and civil construction, installation, and maintenance.

·       Ensure all works (track laying, ground support, concrete pours, ventilation walls, sumps, etc.) are completed to design, safely, and on time.

·       Oversee rail maintenance including slab track, embedded track, turnouts, contact wire systems, bonding, and alignment tolerances.

·       Ensure QA/QC compliance including ITP sign-offs, hold points, welding and coating inspections, pressure testing, and MDR updates.

·       Conduct underground inspections and record progress.

·       Positive attitude and leadership

·       Demonstrated experience in workforce allocation of multi-disciplined teams and management, conducting pre-starts, toolboxes etc

·       Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and mine layouts.

·       Strong commitment to developing and maintaining a safe working environment

·       Ability to prioritise, plan, organise and complete work within established deadlines

·       Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people at all levels in an informative and positive manner

·       Strong client focus and a genuine desire to assist team members
