About the Role

Description

The National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Summer Camp Intern. This temporary position will assist with the implementation of the museum’s summer camps program that features themes around spying and puzzles, STEM and innovation, history, and theater- all within the context of World War II. The Summer Camp Intern will support daily summer camp instruction by facilitating camp activities, monitoring and engaging campers, and ensuring the safety and success of camp participants.  


Applicants should have an interest in working with children, as well as a curiosity and desire for continuous learning. They should have a fun-loving, energetic personality and a positive attitude. This position will report directly to the Youth and Family Engagement Manager and is responsible for providing feedback and reflecting on daily happenings in camp to ensure a quality camp experience.  

Requirements

  • Interact with children of various ages.  
  • Organize camp materials and projects.  
  • Facilitate and lead select camp activities, including off-site field trips in both indoor and outdoor environments. 
  • Model inclusivity and positive engagement to foster a safe and welcoming environment for campers of all backgrounds and ages. 
  • Support the creation of an engaging and fun learning environment for campers. 
  • Monitor camper safety and ensure respectful movement across the museum and off-site field trips. 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as needed for education and public programming.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age  
  • Experience working with children of various ages  
  • Ability to communicate with children and adults  
  • Organization and time management skills  
  • Creative and solutions-oriented  

The Summer Camp Intern must be available June 3 - July 20.  Camp day shifts are either 8am - 4pm or 9:30am - 5:30pm while administrative days are 9am-5pm.  Additional availability for events and educational programming is required as needed.
