 Job Summary
The Preschool Teacher fosters a nurturing, faith-filled learning environment for children ages 3–5. The teacher plans and implements engaging lessons aligned with Tennessee Early Childhood Standards while supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church. This role promotes the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students through structured instruction, creative play, and individualized support. The Preschool Teacher reports to the Pastor, School Principal, or their designee.

Essential Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons in early literacy, math, science, and religion aligned with Tennessee Early Childhood Standards.
• Create a safe, organized, and faith-centered classroom environment that reflects Catholic values.
• Supervise students to ensure safety, well-being, and positive developmental growth.
• Use positive guidance strategies to promote respectful behavior and an orderly classroom.
• Assess student progress and maintain required records including attendance, incident reports, and developmental updates.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction to support diverse learning needs.
• Communicate regularly with parents and school leadership regarding student progress, concerns, or incidents.
• Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to address academic, social, and behavioral needs.
• Participate in required training, certification, and professional development.
• Supervise students during classroom transitions, activities, and designated school functions.

Additional Responsibilities

• Attend faculty meetings, staff development sessions, and school events.
• Contribute to a welcoming learning environment through classroom organization, displays, and learning centers.
• Support school and parish activities when appropriate.
• Report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with Tennessee law and school policy.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Pastor.

Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Education or a related field (Early Childhood preferred).
• Tennessee Teacher Licensure or eligibility for licensure preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Understanding of child development and early childhood learning.
• Familiarity with the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate within a school community.
• Proficiency with basic educational technology.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Work in a standard school environment with moderate activity and noise.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and assist young children when needed.
• Frequent standing, sitting, bending, and moving throughout the classroom and school environment.
• Ability to supervise children in various indoor and outdoor settings.
