About the Role

U.S. Citizenship is Required. Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance required. Candidate must be SAP and SCI program eligible.

Toyon Research Corporation is seeking a talented Fluids Engineer to take immediate ownership of propulsion hardware design as a Responsible Engineer. The Fluids Engineer will be responsible for design, development, and validation of fluid and mechanical systems, as well as technical guidance and mentoring of mechanical and electrical engineers responsible for associated hardware. The Fluids Engineer will be expected to participate in the full lifecycle of the project from the initial concept phase to a production ready design, through flight hardware builds and compliance efforts.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and test fluid systems and associated mechanical structures
  • Mentor other engineers on topics including component design, component testing, and systemlevel architecture and development
  • Derive requirements from top level performance, test, and safety objectives
  • Write, review, and update work instructions for assembly and qualification test plans
  • Assemble and test first article prototypes
  • Work closely with interfacing teams to ensure successful integration of prototype designs onto test platforms

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience with high pressure systems
  • Working knowledge of and hands on experience with fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency using parametric CAD for both design and drawings
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing per ASME Y 14.5
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and requirements
  • Ability to delegate tasks and lead large project scope
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with engineering, analysis, and test of propulsion systems
  • Experience with environmental testing
  • Master’s or PhD in engineering
  • Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, and Windchill PLM software
  • Direct experience with flight qualification and flight support
  • Ability to design, build, and deploy data acquisition and control systems for tests involving high pressure systems

The annual pay range for the Fluids Engineer position is $120,000 to $200,000.


The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate’s education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
