The RN Administrative Supervisor is responsible for ensuring continuous and timely availability of nursing and clinical care to patients. S/he coordinates inpatient clinical care, and performs safe, prudent, economical care in accordance with nationally accepted standards of nursing care and practice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversees and facilitates patient care services, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and standards of patient care and nursing practice.
- Functions as a member of the leadership team, and serves as a liaison between medical staff and caregivers. Promotes strong interdepartmental relationships and physician satisfaction to collaboratively achieve positive outcomes in providing excellent patient care.
- Assigns and directs staffing to ensure caregiver patterns and ratios meet patient care and medical staff needs.
- Serves as a resource to teach and build competency in nursing and other caregivers.
- Assists with the preparation of the capital budget.
- Ensures safe, efficient patient care and processes through participation in performance improvement activities and patient safety programs.
- Demonstrates commitment to excellence in customer service and operational performance.
- Works with caregivers to resolve problems, and keeps Directors informed of issues that arise.
- Reports patient concerns and complaints to the Patient Liaison, according to policy.
- Addresses caregiver performance issues.
- Attends 75% departmental meetings
Requirements
EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
- New Mexico or multi-state RN license
- BSN preferred
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- PALS (AHA) Moderate Sedation certification within 30-days from hire date
- CPI within 6 months of hire
- NRP required within 3 months from hire date
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Supervisory Experience in an Acute Care setting minimum 1 year required
- Critical Care Experience, minimum 1 year required
- Minimum of 5 years RN experience preferred
- Knowledge of theoretical approaches to the delivery of nursing care and strategies for examining and applying relevant concepts
- Knowledge of current leadership, management and quality improvement concepts, and the ability to participate in developing and implementing organizational strategies to address opportunities to improve the delivery of patient care
