Description
What You’ll Do
- Lead and own all site safety programs during construction, commissioning, and operations
- Manage contractor safety, job hazard analysis (JHA), permit-to-work systems, and safe work practices
- Develop and sustain a comprehensive safety management system aligned with regulatory standards and industry best practices
- Serve as the primary safety advisor to site leadership, engineering, maintenance, and operations teams
- Drive safety integration into equipment design, processes, and capital projects
- Lead and facilitate the plant safety committee to promote engagement and continuous improvement
- Maintain a strong field presence, coaching employees and leaders on safety accountability
- Design and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
- Monitor and report safety performance metrics (KPIs), trends, and improvement initiatives
- Lead OSHA compliance efforts, audits, and regulatory inspections
- Advise leadership on safety risks, regulatory changes, and mitigation strategies
- Be available to respond to safety concerns on a 24/7 basis as needed
Requirements
What You’ll Bring
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in occupational safety/EHS roles
- At least 2 years in a leadership or program management capacity
- Experience supporting construction, startup, or commissioning environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in lithium battery materials, chemical manufacturing, or other high-hazard environments
- Experience building safety programs in greenfield or rapidly growing facilities
- Professional certification (CSP preferred; CIH or CHMM also valued)

- Physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting (up to 50 lbs occasionally)
- On-call availability for safety-related incidents as needed
