 Pipe Welder Trainee

Location:
 Pascagoula, MS

Basic Function

The Pipe Welder Trainee will undergo training to acquire the skills necessary for the role of a Pipe Welder.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalency (General Education Diploma) preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience in welding or other technical training preferred.

Minimum Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Capable of working in confined or enclosed spaces.
  • Ability to work/climb at heights greater than 5 feet.
  • Must be able to wear and work with a respirator when necessary.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
  • Physical capability to bend, squat, kneel, and climb.
  • Strong basic math skills.

Essential Duties and Job Functions

  • Learn the basics of tack welding and assist Pipe Welders as needed.
  • Acquire familiarity with fundamental welding and fitting processes.
  • Develop an understanding of shipbuilding operations and the use of job-related tools.
  • Learn and practice stick welding, short arc, flux core, aluminum tack-welding skills.
  • Provide assistance to Pipe Welders, including fire watch duties.
  • Use essential tools such as levels, squares, chipping hammer, grinders, tape measures, and torches.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and environmental policies.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned by management.
  • Work overtime when required.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
