About the Role

Location: Gerrards Cross | Rate: £14 per hour | Contract: Temporary – Independent college setting

We’re looking for a reliable and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join the catering team at an independent college in Gerrards Cross. The successful candidate will support daily kitchen duties, help deliver nutritious meals for students and staff, and maintain high standards of hygiene and service.

👩‍🍳 About the Role

  • Assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks under the direction of senior kitchen staff

  • Portion and plate food for service during breakfast, lunch, and any additional meal times

  • Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and service areas to maintain HACCP standards

  • Wash, stack, and store dishes, utensils, and cookware efficiently

  • Receive, check, and store deliveries; rotate stock and label items as required

  • Follow allergen and special-diet instructions carefully and report concerns to senior staff

  • Work cooperatively with catering colleagues and college staff to ensure smooth service

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality role preferred but not essential

  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety (Level 2 Food Hygiene desirable)

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a busy team

  • Good communication skills and a calm, professional attitude

  • Willingness to follow instructions and learn on the job

  • Comfortable handling repetitive tasks and working to time-sensitive schedules

  • Enhanced DBS desirable for working in an education setting; we can advise on obtaining one if required
