Forklift Operator
Job Summary
Ready to keep things moving? As a Forklift Operator / Laborer, you’ll play a key role in our daily operations by safely loading, unloading, moving, and organizing materials. This hands-on position helps ensure products are prepared accurately and efficiently for shipment while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
What You’ll Do
- Operate assigned forklift equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from various types of trucks.
- Organize and stage materials in logical order for shipment.
- Verify load accuracy while working closely with Supervisors, Customer Service Representatives, and Sales teams.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report any issues promptly.
- Follow all Federal, State, Local, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with additional duties as needed to keep operations running smoothly.
What We’re Looking For
- Prior forklift operating experience required.
- Ability to work extended hours when needed to support production demands.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to read and follow detailed instructions, including picking and loading tickets.
- A dependable team player who takes pride in accuracy, safety, and productivity.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in accordance with York Building Products safety policies.
- Duties may be performed indoors and outdoors, requiring exposure to weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and other elements.
- Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment and machinery.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb in and out of equipment repeatedly.
- Physical demands include walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
