The Temporary Part-Time Shelter Staff position plays a vital role in supporting the daily operations of a shelter environment, ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of all residents. The staff member will help maintain a clean, organized, and secure environment while adhering to shelter policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work part-time hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with shelter safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a shelter, social services, or related environment.
- Training or certification in first aid, CPR, or crisis intervention.
- Familiarity with community resources and support services.
- Ability to speak multiple languages to assist diverse populations.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist shelter residents upon arrival, providing information and support as needed.
- Monitor the shelter environment to ensure safety and security for all occupants.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of common areas, sleeping quarters, and facilities.
- Document resident interactions, incidents, and daily activities accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with team members and management to address resident needs and resolve conflicts.
- Assist in distributing meals, supplies, and resources to residents.
- Follow all shelter policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance and safety.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly.
