What You’ll Do
The General Counsel serves as the chief legal advisor to the organization, providing strategic guidance on all legal, regulatory and governance matters as well as practical legal guidance across all aspects of multifamily residential property management. This role will oversee corporate governance, contract management, compliance, risk management, and other legal matters to support MRR’s strategic and operational goals.
Your day-to-day may include:
· Advise the CEO, C Suite, and executive leadership on major business decisions, risks, and opportunities.
· Draft, review, and negotiate Property Management Agreements with clients, investors and banks, balancing business objectives and risk mitigation.
· Advise/direct local counsel on escalated landlord-tenant matters, including evictions, fair housing compliance, reasonable accommodations, lease enforcement, and regulatory requirements.
· Develop, implement, and maintain corporate compliance programs; ensure adherence to federal and state laws and regulations.
· Manage and coordinate outside counsel on all arbitration, mediation, litigation, and pre-litigation matters, including tenant disputes, personal injury claims, fair housing complaints, and regulatory actions.
· Advise HR and executive leadership on employment law matters, including wage and hour compliance, employee relations, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
· Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including commercial agreements, NDA’s, vendor and client agreements, construction agreements, management agreements and financing or acquisition documents.
· Monitor and interpret changes in national and local laws and regulations impacting multifamily housing and employment practices.
Requirements
What You Bring
· Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
· Colorado bar membership in good standing; multi-state experience and/or bar membership strongly preferred
· 10+ years of progressively responsible relevant legal experience, including prior in-house counsel or General Counsel leadership experience preferred
· Demonstrated experience is real estate, landlord-tenant law, employment law, and contract negotiation
· Experience supporting multi-state operations and scaling organizations with experience managing outside counsel and balancing legal and business priorities.
· Strong business acumen with the ability to balance legal risk and operational realities. High integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership approach.

The expected compensation range for this position is $225,000 – $300,000, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
