POSITION SUMMARY:
The loader/grinder operator is responsible for quality control, sorting, and grinding direct raw wood products for end market sales, while maintaining a high level of quality, as well as the preventive maintenance on the equipment and work areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspect fluids and hoses on loader and grinder and any additional equipment daily
- Check all belts, bearings and magnets on grinder and hammer mill, daily
- Unload sort line bunkers daily into containers for trucking and end market sale
- Grind wood as a priority and maintain a workable pile
- Maintain cleanliness both inside and outside of the building
- Ensure belts are on track and in good shape; also monitor the quality of material coming off the belts
- Communicate with operator inside of building, ask for assistance, and offer assistance when needed
- Spot check to ensure quality of loads, and remove unacceptable materials
- Assist facility manager with any maintenance as requested
- Jockey full and empty trailers into wood loading shed
Requirements
Education and/or experience:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Previous experience with heavy or light equipment
WORK CONDITIONS
Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around heavy machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions, possible exposure to toxic chemicals.
