SUMMARY:

VadaTech is a world leader in the design and manufacturing of embedded computing solutions. Due to continued growth, we are seeking candidates for the SMT Rework Technician position. The SMT Rework Technician is responsible for executing complex rework, repair, and modifications of high-density, multi-layer, and fine-pitch electronic assemblies. This role demands a deep technical expertise in rework methodologies and quality assurance to support the production and development of high-reliability electronic products.

  • Perform advanced rework, repair, and modifications on complex surface-mount and through-hole electronic assemblies, including BGA, QFN, and other high-density components, while ensuring minimal thermal and mechanical stress.
  • Develop, validate, and improve rework processes, tools, and techniques to reduce risk, enhance quality, and efficiency.
  • Proficient with basic and advanced tools and techniques such as microscopes, soldering, desoldering, and BGA reflow stations, thermal profiling, and X-ray inspection.
  • Ensure that all components and assemblies are handled properly to prevent damage.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering change orders and schematics to perform rework or repairs.
  • Lead training sessions and provide technical mentorship to entry-level rework technicians.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, process engineering, and quality teams to address design and process issues.
  • Ensure all rework activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations.
  • Support failure analysis and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Extensive hands-on experience with advanced SMT rework and repair techniques, including BGA, QFN, CSP, and fine-pitch components.
  • In-depth knowledge of electronic component identification, specifications, datasheets, and PCB design considerations.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IPC-A-610, J-STD001, and IPC7711/7721. (certifications preferred).

ENVIRONMENT: 

  • Indoors/Engineering Labs/Manufacturing Floor

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and work under a microscope for a prolonged time.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, eye, ear, and foot protection. 
  • Ability to handle and lift objects weighing at least 20 lbs.
