The Kitchen Prep position is essential to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a professional kitchen by preparing ingredients and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. This role involves washing, chopping, measuring, and arranging food items to support chefs and cooks in timely meal preparation. The Kitchen Prep team member plays a critical role in upholding food safety and sanitation standards, contributing to the overall quality and consistency of dishes served. By managing inventory and assisting with stock rotation, the Kitchen Prep helps minimize waste and ensures the availability of fresh ingredients. Ultimately, this position supports the culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences through meticulous preparation and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and culinary terminology.
- Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize duties effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Wash, peel, chop, and prepare vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients according to recipe specifications.
- Measure and portion ingredients accurately to assist chefs in meal preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen prep area, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and storage of food items.
- Dispose of waste properly and adhere to all health and safety regulations.
- Support the culinary team by promptly responding to requests and helping with basic cooking tasks as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or quality issues to supervisors.
