About the Role

  • 2 years full-time (35 hours per week) with potential of ongoing
  • Location: Parramatta, Grafton, Albury, Dubbo, Newcastle - hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $124,322 pa to $138,494 pa + super

Join the Spatial Imagery Services team as a Remote Sensing Senior Scientist (Imagery) and help deliver satellite imagery for environmental remote sensing programs and operational functions across NSW.

You will contribute to the acquisition, curation, storage and delivery of high‑quality imagery for NSW, designing, optimising and maintaining solutions that ensure datasets are accurate, reliable, discoverable and aligned with best‑practice data standards.

You will provide support to internal and external customers who rely on these datasets for evidence‑based decision‑making, including contributing to legal and compliance processes. You will collaborate across teams and with external partners to enhance program delivery, contribute to improved project management practices and communicate complex technical insights clearly to a wide range of audiences.

About You
You are an experienced remote sensing professional who is adaptable, curious and comfortable working across a broad range of tasks, applying your technical skills and professional capability where they are most needed. You thrive as part of a geographically dispersed team that supports flexible working and promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing. Your experience in the use of imagery and remote‑sensed products, data management, information workflows, quality assurance and project management enables you to deliver accurate, timely work with a high degree of autonomy.

You are keen to apply and further develop your skills so that you can effectively work across a variety of department platforms, including Windows‑based systems and a Linux‑based high‑performance computer. Practical capability in scripting, spatial analysis, data management and/or working with Application Programming Interfaces is well regarded. A clear communicator and collaborative team member, you manage competing demands, provide regular progress updates, exercise sound judgement in decision-making and are committed to continuous improvement.

Essential Requirements 

  • Degree in relevant field or equivalent demonstrated relevant experience in the application of Remote Sensing to environmental monitoring.
