Description:

CompQsoft is seeking a highly qualified Senior Network/Systems Engineer with strong DEVSECOPS expertise and prior experience supporting PMW 160 programs such as CANES (Consolidated Afloat Networks & Enterprise Services) and ACS (Afloat Core Services). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of DoD and Navy network environments, combined with hands-on skills in automation, coding, and secure systems integration.

This position will design, implement, and optimize complex network and system architectures within Navy tactical environments, applying modern DEVSECOPS toolchains and processes to enhance cybersecurity posture, deployment efficiency, and system reliability.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and implement secure network communications systems supporting Navy programs under PMW 160.
  • Integrate DEVSECOPS principles and practices into system and network development lifecycles, emphasizing automation, security, and continuous integration.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts and configuration management baselines using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with system developers and cybersecurity engineers to improve security posture through automated compliance enforcement, vulnerability remediation, and best-practice configurations.
  • Produce network design documentation, diagrams, and engineering packages aligned with Navy and DoD technical standards.
  • Conduct performance testing, analysis, and optimization of networks and systems across afloat and ashore environments.
  • Provide engineering guidance and troubleshooting support for modernization and sustainment efforts, including CANES and ACS infrastructure.
  • Stay current with emerging network technologies, cybersecurity frameworks, and automation methodologies relevant to DEVSECOPS within DoD environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (experience may substitute for degree).
  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in network/systems engineering, including 3+ years in senior or leadership roles supporting DoD or Navy environments.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain).
  • IAT Level II or higher certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, SSCP, etc.).
  • Demonstrated expertise with Cisco enterprise-level routers, switches, and firewalls (e.g., Nexus, Catalyst, FTD, Palo Alto, or Fortinet).
  • Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), MPLS, VPNs, QoS, and WAN optimization.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or Go) for automation and configuration management.
  • Practical experience with DEVSECOPS tools and processes, including CI/CD pipeline development, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
  • Prior working knowledge of PMW 160 systems such as CANES, ACS, RTSO, or other Navy network environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CSSP/IASAE certification or equivalent DoD cybersecurity accreditation.
  • Cisco CCNP/CCIE (Routing & Switching, Security, or Data Center) or equivalent certifications (Juniper JNCIP, Aruba ACMP).
  • Hands-on experience with virtualized and containerized environments (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Understanding of RMF, DISA STIGs, NAVWAR policies, and related cybersecurity compliance processes.
  • Proven experience developing, automating, or troubleshooting Navy enterprise networks and shipboard IT infrastructures.
