About the Role

Description

Student Responsibilities: 

  • Actively participate in professional development and extracurricular activities 
  • Proactively manage student behavior according to shared expectations and ABA guidelines
  • Engage families and community members in the learning process 
  • Constant attention to and interaction with the assigned student (Note: when student is on break therapist should be interacting with student teaching play skills or prepping next trials) 
  • Constant delivery of approvals to student
  • Accurately taking data and notes on targeted behaviors and any new observed behaviors
  • Working toward and completing training objectives
  • Assisting in toileting and self-care needs of student
  • Picking up and cleaning as you go to ensure the classroom environment is safe and conducive to learning
  • Demonstrating flexibility in scheduling and student assignment
  • Staying current on programming/curriculum and adapting program changes as they occur
  • Consistently following classroom schedule 

School Responsibilities: 

  • Set and work toward ambitious behavioral and academic goals
  • Deliver community-based instruction
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement and reinforce all components of a consistently positive, creative, and solutions-oriented school culture
  • Running NET, DTT, and academic programs accurately according to the curriculum
  • Accurately summarizing and graphing data
  • Accepting and executing feedback from the Center Director, PATH Director, and BCBAs
  • Working as a teammate in the classroom and throughout Chartwell
  • Communicating concerns in a friendly and professional manner
  • Completing assigned chores before leaving to ensure center cleanliness
  • Staying current on programming/curriculum and adapting program changes as they occur
  • Timeliness and punctuality for arrival (8:00 AM), lunch (30 minutes), and departure (3:45 PM at the earliest) 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree; preferred but not mandatory in Psychology
  • A commitment to fulfill the school’s mission and vision
  • A passion for helping children and adults with learning differences
  • Experience working with children and/or adults with autism
  • Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis
  • The desire to be part of a true Professional Learning Community
  • Flexibility, patience, perception and empathy

  • Show respect and courtesy to students, parents, and colleagues
  • Accept feedback from supervisors in a polite and constructive manner

  • A strong desire to increase instructional efficacy by receiving and implementing feedback
  • An unwavering commitment to help each of our young learners excel behaviorally, academically, emotionally and socially

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS with or without accommodation:

  • The employee is regularly required to operate a computer and communicate with others on the phone and in person
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, use hands and lift /move lightweight items
  • Ability to move independently within the facility and the community
  • Ability to care for student in caring and professional manor
  • Ability to lift small children

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a normal working office setting that is environmentally controlled and out in the field
